The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is a rooftop solar installation scheme initiated by the central government of India. This scheme provides CFA (Central Finance Assistance) to beneficiaries for solar energy system installation for residential homes and 300 unit free monthly electricity to poor families.
The subsidies on solar installation is significant which promises to take care up to 60-65% percentage of the total cost. The amount varies depending on what capacity solar plant will you choose. For example at current market price (04.07.24), Rs 30000 subsidy for 1kW systems, Rs 60000 for 2kW systems, and Rs 78000 for 3kW or higher.
Initially with this scheme, government expected to benefit to 1 crore eligible households all over India by spending a high budget amount of Rs, 75,021 crore.

PM SuryaGhar Yojana Application Process:
To apply on PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, follow this steps:
Step 1: Visit the official website of PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
Step 2: Click on ‘Apply for Rooftop Solar‘ button.
Step 3: Now navigate to register or login section if already registered. If you’re new, you need to register by filling the appropriate information such as your state, district, electricity distribution company, consumer number and click to next.
Step 4: Now, enter your mobile number and email address, and follow the process to complete the registration.
Step 5: Now, login with consumer number and mobile number.
Step 6: Apply for the Rooftop Solar as per the form.
Step 7: After registering for rooftop solar, wait for the feasibility approval from DISCOM. Once, it gets approved you can install a plant through a registered vendors in your DISCOM. Find the registered vendor near your house by visiting the link and entering your state and district.
Step 8: Once you have successfully installed a rooftop solar, apply fot net meter by submitting the plant details.
Step 9: After installation of net meter and inspection by DISCOM, they will generate commissioning certificate from portal.
Step 10: Once you have get the commissioning certificate, submit your bank account details and a cancelled cheque by logging into official website of PM Surya Ghar Yojana portal. The subsidy will be provided in your bank account within 30 days.
